336 Cadet Sub-Inspectors of the 13th batch graduated from the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy in Bhubaneswar on 4 September 2026.
The Odisha Police force received a professional boost when 336 Cadet Sub-Inspectors completed their training. The event took place at the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy, also known as BPSPA, in the state capital.Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended the grand Dikshant Samaroh passing-out parade as the chief guest. He felicitated the new officers after they finished two years of rigorous indoor and outdoor training.
The passing-out parade of the 13th batch of cadet Sub-Inspectors was held at the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy in Bhubaneswar. A total of 336 newly appointed Sub-Inspectors formally joined the Odisha Police. Among them were 70 women officers.The ceremony marked the successful end of their basic training. Senior police officers, instructors, parents, family members and media representatives attended the event.
The 336 Cadet Sub-Inspectors underwent two years of rigorous indoor and outdoor training at the academy. The training prepared them for duties in the Odisha Police force.Inspector General of Police and Director of the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy, Anup Kumar Sahu, delivered the welcome address. He also presented the academy’s annual report during the ceremony.The batch included a notable number of women officers. This presence was highlighted as a sign of changing social trends in the state.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi addressed the newly appointed officers. He said the occasion was not merely a formal parade. It was a celebration of dedication, discipline, sacrifice and excellence.He stated that the police uniform is not just a uniform. It carries the authority granted by the Constitution and the responsibility of serving society.The Chief Minister urged the officers to use their authority to ensure justice for weaker sections of society. He stressed that no innocent person should be harassed and no criminal should be allowed to escape.He gave three key messages to the 336 Cadet Sub-Inspectors. First, maintain zero tolerance towards corruption in line with the government’s policy. Second, uphold the highest standards of discipline in uniformed service. Third, never misuse official power.He also called for the adoption of SMART POLICING to make the force more effective against modern crimes, including technology-driven offences and cyber fraud.
The Chief Minister felicitated cadets who excelled in different areas of training. P. Nalini Rao, who secured the highest marks, received the Governor’s Medal, a trophy and a cash award of Rs 10,000.Trophies and awards were also presented to Tejaswini Mohantary, Yudhishthir Behera, Laxman Kumar Mahant, Sasmita Khuntia, Niharika Tripathi and Ashutosh Nayak for their outstanding performance.
Director General of Police Binaytosh Mishra spoke at the event. He urged the newly appointed officers to work towards delivering justice to the people. He asked them to discharge their responsibilities with courage, dedication and integrity.He also stressed the use of technology and smart policing systems to address challenges such as cybercrime. He noted the force’s contributions in anti-Naxal operations.
The Chief Minister shared details of recent steps taken by the state government. A total of 17,794 new posts have been created in the police department during the last two years. Of these, 5,817 posts have been filled.Vehicles and fuel allowances are being provided to improve the functioning of police stations. The government remains committed to making Odisha a drug-free state by 2029.He linked strong law and order with industrial growth and long-term prosperity in the state.
The 336 Cadet Sub-Inspectors will now take up duties across Odisha. They are expected to protect the innocent, act against criminals according to law, and serve the public with integrity.People in the state can expect a stronger police presence with these additional trained officers joining the force. The new Sub-Inspectors will support efforts to maintain peace, handle modern crimes and improve public safety.The graduation of the 336 Cadet Sub-Inspectors adds trained personnel to the Odisha Police.
