Donald Trump Boldly Featured on Historic 250th Anniversary Gold Coin

Donald Trump will appear on a special gold coin to mark America’s 250th anniversary.
The U.S. Commission of Fine Arts approved the final design on Thursday. This clears the path for the U.S. Mint to produce the 24-karat gold commemorative coin. The coin celebrates July 4, 2026, as the nation’s 250th birthday.

Donald Trump is shown leaning on the Resolute Desk with clenched fists. This makes him only the second sitting president to feature on a U.S. coin. The first was Calvin Coolidge in 1926. That coin marked 150 years of American independence and included George Washington.

The design draws from a known photograph of Donald Trump. It was taken by the chief White House photographer and displayed in the National Portrait Gallery. The back of the coin shows a bald eagle. Details like size and exact denomination are still under discussion. The coin will be a limited collectible item.

Donald Trump on U.S. Coin:

Federal law bars living presidents from appearing on U.S. currency. However, Treasury officials say the secretary has authority to issue new 24-karat gold coins. This allows the commemorative piece to move forward. The Commission of Fine Arts, whose members were appointed by Donald Trump, approved the design without objection.

U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach said: “As we approach our 250th birthday, we are thrilled to prepare coins that represent the enduring spirit of our country and democracy, and there is no profile more emblematic for the front of such coins than that of our serving President, Donald J. Trump.”

The coin is not for regular circulation. It serves as a collector’s item for America’s semiquincentennial. Production will be limited. People interested in buying it can watch for official announcements from the U.S. Mint. No set release date or price has been shared yet.

This marks a rare step in U.S. coin history. It ties Donald Trump directly to the 250th anniversary events planned by the administration. The focus remains on the coin as a symbol of national celebration.
