Government of India will conduct a government securities auction of Rs 32,000 crore on July 10 with settlement on July 13.
The Government of India will auction Rs 32,000 crore worth of dated government securities on July 10 to raise funds. Settlement is scheduled for July 13. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will conduct the auction.The auction includes the re-issue of two government securities. These are the 6.36% Government Security (GS) 2031 and the 7.71% GS 2066.
For the 6.36% GS 2031, the notified amount stands at Rs 21,000 crore. The 7.71% GS 2066 has a notified amount of Rs 11,000 crore. This brings the total to Rs 32,000 crore.The government has retained the option to accept additional subscriptions of up to Rs 2,000 crore against each security. This option remains available if required during the process.
The RBI will conduct the auction through its Mumbai office. It will use the multiple price method. This is the standard approach for such government securities auction events.The move forms part of the government’s regular borrowing programme. It helps meet fiscal needs through the sale of dated securities in the market.
Market participants can take part in the government securities auction on the scheduled date. Results are expected after the auction closes on July 10. Successful bidders will see settlement on July 13.This auction provides an opportunity for investors to buy re-issued government bonds with fixed interest rates.
