PMFME Scheme Supports Over 1.96 Lakh Micro Enterprises
The Ministry of Food Processing Industries has supported over 1.96 lakh individual micro food processing enterprises under the PMFME Scheme.Joint Secretary Devesh Deval shared this update while addressing the media in New Delhi on Saturday. He highlighted the progress made under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme.
PMFME Scheme focuses on empowering micro food processing units across the country. More than 40 percent of the beneficiaries under the scheme are women entrepreneurs.Devesh Deval said the PMFME Scheme has covered over 1.72 lakh beneficiaries through its capacity building programme. He added that about 80 incubation centres have been approved under the scheme. Out of these, 31 centres have already been commissioned.
These incubation centres aim to help with technology adoption, innovation, and entrepreneurship development. They are expected to benefit thousands of producers and entrepreneurs.The PMFME Scheme provides access to finance, formalisation, training, branding, marketing, and modern market linkages for micro-enterprises. It has emerged as an important step for strengthening India’s micro food processing ecosystem.

Devesh Deval stated that the scheme is significantly empowering women entrepreneurs, Self Help Groups, and rural enterprises. He added that it is contributing to employment generation for around 5.88 lakh individual enterprises across the food processing value chain. The scheme also helps in strengthening local rural economies.
The Ministry has signed an agreement with the Government e-Marketplace (GeM). This agreement will help PMFME-supported enterprises get onboarded and receive market assistance on the GeM portal.
