The linkage has allowed the women-led FPC to join the export value chain. Member farmers have gained direct market access. They received higher returns for their produce than domestic market prices.Jharkhand has favourable agro-climatic conditions for horticulture. The Amrapali mango variety grown in the state is known for its quality and market acceptance. With this first consignment, Jharkhand has joined the list of states exporting fresh fruits to international markets.
APEDA works to promote exports of agricultural and processed food products. It supports market development, capacity-building programmes, quality improvement, traceability systems, and export promotion. The authority gives special attention to farmer collectives, including women-led and tribal producer organisations.
This first commercial export of fresh mangoes from Jharkhand is expected to encourage better quality production practices. It will also promote improved post-harvest management and compliance with international standards among farmer groups in the region.Farmers and FPCs in Jharkhand can expect more opportunities for similar exports in the future. The success of this shipment provides a clear path for other groups to meet global market requirements and gain better prices for their produce.
